Last Will of Ann Cassin
Widow of Patrick Kack & Joseph Shea

On this day the fourth of November, one thousand eight hundred and ninety two, before us, the undersigned Notaries Public for the Province of Quebec, personally came and appeared Ann Cassin of St. Gabriel of Valcartier, widow by her last marriage of the late Patrick Kack, in his life time of the same place, who being in a bad state of health but of sound mind, memory, & understanding requested the said Notaries to write down & receive her last will & testament which she made and dictated unto us as follows, to wit:

I give and bequeath unto my son William Hubert Shea of Valcartier aforesaid, Farmer, issue of my first marriage, all my half and and interests generally whatsoever in a certain lot of land situated in the Fief of St. Ignace in the said Parish of St. Gabriel of Valcartier now known under the number eight hundred and seventy of the Plan & Book of Reference of the Parish of St. Gabriel of Valcartier  with the recorded half of all the buildings thereon erected subject by him and under the express condition to pay when called for the just half of the sum of one hundred dollars with interest thereon due unto Miss Margaret Neilson under a deed of mortgage in her favor upon the whole of said lot and also half of a sum of seventy five dollars and interest the sum due unto Mr. Frederick Kack, now of Quebec, under a promissory note.

And as to the rest and residue of all other properties, real and personal, moveable & immoveable under which I may die possessed of at the time of my decease, I give and bequeath the same unto my two children issue of my second marriage with the late Patrick Kack, named Sarah Ann Kack and John Kack who I appoint my universal residuary legatees subject by them to pay all other debts which I may owe at the time of my death.

As for the execution hereof I appoint Simeon Keily, my brother-in-law, with power to act herein beyond the year and a day fixed by law and I hereby revoke all wills and codicils at any time heretofore by me made.

It was thus made and dictated by the said Ann Cassin, widow Patrick Kack, Testatrix, unto us the said Notaries and the present last will and testament having been read over in full to the said Testatrix by Mtre. Philippe Huot, one of the said Notaries, in the presence of Mtre. Charles Edmond Taschereau, the other Notary, who was present during the whole execution hereof. The said Testatrix declared that she well understood the same and persisted therein as containing her true last will and testament.

Done and executed at the City of Quebec in the Office of Notary Philippe Huot on the day and year first first above written and under the number nine thousand five hundred and ninety four of deed of record in the office of the said Philippe Huot, and when requested to sign the said Ann Cassin, widow Patrick Kack, Testatrix, declared in the presence of said Notaries that she could neither write nor sign her name, the said Notaries having signed in the presence of the said Testatrix and in the presence of each other after the reading hereof according to law and the observance of all the formalities required for the validity of wills.

Eight errors erased are null; one marginal note approved as good.
