On the twentieth day of August about eleven o’clock in the fore noon in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty nine,
At the request of John Conway of the Parish of St. Catherine de Fossambault, Teacher, I the undersigned Notary Public duly commissioned and sworn and residing at the city of Quebec in the Province of Quebec and Dominion of Canada went to the house and residence of the said John Conway in the Parish of St. Catherine de Fossambault at the place known as Lake St. Joseph where being I found the said John Conway of sound mind, memory, judgment and understanding and who requested me the said Notary in the presence of Patrick White and John Griffin both of the said Parish of St. Catherine of Fossambault, farmers, witnesses requested to be present to write down and receive his last will and testament which he instantly made, declared and named in manner and form following that is to say,
I will and direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid and satisfied with all due diligence after my decease.
I give, devise and bequeath the whole of my property moveable and immoveable real and personal debts obligations ready money or wearing apparel which I may die possessed of without any exception or reserve whatsoever unto my son James Conway whom I do hereby institute my universal legatee of all my property moveable and immoveable real and personal to have and to hold the same after my decease in full and absolute property. And I do hereby nominate and appoint the said James Conway sole executor of this my present last will and testament in whose hands I do deseize and disect myself of all my said property moveable and immoveable.
I give, devise and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Conway the sum of two hundred dollars to be paid to her by her said brother James in full equal annual installments of the sum of forty dollars each the first to be made in one year after my decease the whole to be made without interest, and I hereby revoke and make null and void all other wills at any time heretofore by me made declaring the present to be my only true last will and testament.
It was thus made, dictated and named by the said Testator unto me the said Notary and witnesses and the present last will and testament having been read over and over again to the said John Conway by me the said Notary in the presence of the said witnesses the said John Conway declared to have perfectly heard and understood the same and presented herein declaring that it contained his last will and testament.
Done and executed at the Parish aforesaid at the residence of the said Testator on the day and year first above written under the number one thousand two hundred and fifty two the said John Conway having signed these presents first twice duly read as aforesaid together with said witnesses.
