On this eighth day of January one thousand nine hundred and two, before me Cyrille Renaud Public Notary residing in the Parish of St. Ambroise of Jeune Lorette, undersigned, personally came and appeared Timothy McCarthy, Senior, Farmer residing in the Parish of Ste. Catherine, who being of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding hath requested us the said Notary and witnesses to write down and receive in due form of law his last will and testament which he has declared in manner and form following, that is to say:
1º I direct that my just debts, funeral and testamentary expenses be paid by my Executrix hereinafter named as soon as possible after my death.
2º I desire and I give and bequeath to my son Michael McCarthy the first half of a land situated in the said Parish of Ste. Catherine containing the said half forty arpents long bounded to the north by the River Jacques Cartier, to the south by Timothy McCarthy, Junior, to the east side by Timothy McCarthy, Junior, and to the west side by the other part of the land which must be given by Honora Donovan, my wife, to Thomas McCarthy, my son.
3º I give and bequeath to my son Timothy McCarthy, Junior, one island in the River Jacques Cartier, parish of Ste. Catherine, containing six acres long and two acres wide more or less situated opposite to the lands of Robert Neil on the south side of the river and on the north side by the lands of John Campbell. This land is now known and designated upon the plan and Book of Reference for the said parish of Ste. Catherine as the lot number (295) two hundred and ninety five of the Cadastre of Ste. Catherine.
4º I give and bequeath to my son James McCarthy the sum of one thousand dollars if I have not bought a property for him before my death.
5º I ratify the donation deed that I have made before the undersigned Notary the fourth December one thousand and nine hundred and one but I desire and I give it to him, the small part of the numbers (266 & 265) two hundred sixty six and two hundred and sixty five of the Cadastre of Ste. Catherine and situated between the line of the Great Northern Railway and the River Jacques Cartier.
6º I give and bequeath to my wife Honora Donovan all the remainder of all my moveable and immoveable properties but to the condition that she will ratify the dispositions of the legacy made to Michael McCarthy and Timothy McCarthy, Junior, and I appoint my said wife as Executrix of this last will and testament.
Done and passed at Ste. Catherine in the residence of said Testator under number two thousand one hundred and thirty [five].
And after the reading of these presents by the Notary to the Testator in presence of Alexandre Boucher, Doctor of St. Ambroise, and George Hartman, Electrician of St. Gabriel, the Testator, the Notary and the said witnesses requested for these purposes have signed in the presence of each other.

Notes by Patricia Balkcom: Timothy died 3 months later, on April 19th at the age of 68 years. Besides the four sons listed in the will, he and Honora had another son, John and two daughters, Mary Ann and M. Ellen.
