Undated Last Will of John McKeown Widower of Ann Neil | Transcribed from the original at the Quebec Archives: “Collection of Holographic Wills, Testaments and Codicils” |
I, John McKeown, desire that the present will should be executed as following:
I name Thomas McKeown, my youngest son, the Executor of my will.
I want to have a service 1º class $30.00, ten low masses and an anniversary mass $18.00 and I charge Thomas to pay at first all the expenses, the funeral, doctors the board and all the troubles of Miss Smith. I give nothing to William and I want that the balance of my money should be divided between the other children.
This is my will.

NOTE by Patricia Balkcom: John McKeown died St-Edmond of Stoneham 19 November 1901 and was buried in Stoneham 20 November 1901. Although burial record states he was 76, birth records would indicate he was 71. John and his wife had at least 10 children – 8 boys and 2 girls. His wife and some of his children predeceased him. It appears from the harshness of the Will that there might have been a problem between he and his son, William.
