Widow of Michael Fogarty

On this thirty first day of July one thousand nine hundred and fourteen, before the undersigned Notaries Public for the Province of Quebec, Canada, residing and practising in the City of Quebec, personally came and appeared Dame Mary Mulroney, of the Parish of Ste-Catherine in the County of Portneuf, widow of the late Michael Fogarty, in his life time of the same place, Farmer, who has made as follows her last will and testament:

1st I wish to have twenty five masses said for the repose of my soul.

2nd I wish to have a tombstone erected on the lot where the remains of my good husband now rests, and where I also will be buried.

3rd I give, devise and bequeath to my son Jeremiah, all my horses, cows hens and other things belonging to me which are now in his house and buildings with the exception of my clothing and my bed and bedding and the old mare.

4th I bequeath to my son John the sum of one hundred dollars ($100).

5th I give and bequeath the residue of my estate to my five sons hereinafter named: Martin-James, John, Michael, Thomas, and William.

6th I do name and appoint as the sole Executor of this my will, my said son Martin-James, revoking all former wills and codicils I may have made before this.

This last will and testament received by Cy. Tessier, the undersigned Notary, in the presence of L.P. Sirois, his colleague, having been read to the Testatrix by the first named Notary, in presence of the said colleague, she has declared to well understand the same and has persisted in the same as containing her last intentions.

At Quebec, Office of Cy. Tessier, Notary under number eleven thousand two hundred and sixty nine.

In witness whereof, the said Testatrix has signed in the presence of the said Notaries who have also signed in the presence of one another and of the Testatrix after the reading done according to law.

Notes by Patricia Balkcom:  Mary died one year later on July 9, 1915 at 70 years of age.  She and Michael Fogarty had seven sons and one daughter and another child that died at birth.  Two other children, including their only daughter died in childhood.
