The Jurors for Our Lord the King, upon their oath present that James Miller, late of the Township of Stoneham, in the County of Quebec, in the District of Quebec, Labourer, on the twentieth day of October, in the fifth year of the Reign of Our Sovereign Lord William the Fourth by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Defender of the Faith, with force and arms, at the Township aforesaid, in the County aforesaid, in the District aforesaid, in and upon one Mary Diamond, she the said Mary Diamond in the Peace of God and of our said Lord the King then and there being, did make an assault, with an intent her the said Mary Diamond then and there, violently and feloniously, and against the will and consent of her the said Mary Diamond to ravish and carnally know, and other wrongs to her the said Mary Diamond and then and there did, to the great Damage of her the said Mary Diamond, to the evil example of all others in the like kind offending and against the Peace of Our said Lord the King, His Crown and Dignity.
And the Jurors aforesaid, upon their oath aforesaid, do further present that the said James Miller, late of the Township aforesaid, in the County aforesaid, in the District aforesaid, afterwards, to wit: on the said twentieth day of October, in the fifth year of the Reign aforesaid, with force and arms, at the Township aforesaid, in the County aforesaid, in the District aforesaid, in and upon her the said Mary Diamond in the Peace of God and of our said Lord the King then and there being, did make an assault, and her the said Mary Diamond then and there did beat, bruise, wound and ill treat, so that her life was greatly despaired of, and other wrongs to her the said Mary Diamond then and there did, to the great damage of her the said Mary Diamond and, to the evil example of all others in the like kind offending, and against the Peace of Our said Lord the King, His Crown and Dignity.
