JANUARY THE 7TH 1935 MUNICIPALITY OF SAINT GABRIEL DE VALCARTIER PROVINCE OF QUÉBEC

A General monthly meeting of the local Council of the municipality of Saint Gabriel de Valcartier, was held on Monday the seventh day of the month of January 1935 at the usual place of meeting at 2 p.m., in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting were present, Alfred J. Hicks, Mayor, counselors, Thomas Robinson, William Goodfellow, Irvin Jack, Samuel Seed, and Joseph Hicks, forming a quorum of said Council under the presidency of the Mayor, the following resolutions were adopted;

1-Moved by Councilor Samuel Seed and seconded by Councilor Joseph Hicks and resolved that this Council do authorize the secretary Treas. to pay Norman Montgomery, the sum of $9.90 for work done on the iron bridge on the Jacques Cartier River for the year 1934.

2-Moved by Councilor Samuel Seed and seconded by Councilor Joseph Hicks, and resolved that this Council do authorize the secretary-treasurer to go to Valcartier Camp to see about William Cartwright, to find out who is responsible for him and if the Authorities do not intend to look after him, to have a lawyer’s advice.

3-Moved by Councilor Samuel Seed and seconded by Councilor William Goodfellow and resolved that this Council do give Alfred J. Hicks Mayor, a vote of thanks for his faithful services as Mayor, tendered on his retirement from office.

4-Moved by Councilor Irvin Jack and seconded by Councilor Thomas Robinson and resolved that this meeting be adjourned.

JANUARY 9TH 1935 MUNICIPALITY OF SAINT GABRIEL DE VALCARTIER PROVINCE OF QUÉBEC .

A meeting of the electors of the municipality of St. Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Wednesday the9th day of the month of January 1935, at the council room at 10 a.m. for the purpose of nominating a mayor to take the place of Alfred J. Hicks, and 3 new counselors to take the place of Thomas Robinson, Samuel Seed and Joseph Hicks, whose term of office has expired.

Moved by George Wolff and seconded by William Montgomery, that James McCartney be appointed to take the place of Alfred J. Hicks, who has resigned,  and James McLaughlin be appointed to take the place of Joseph Hicks, and Willie Hicks be appointed to take the place of Samuel Seed and Thomas Robinson be appointed for another term of office.

As there was no opposition to the motion, I, the undersigned presiding officer, declare the meeting at an end and the aforementioned candidates are duly elected.

FEBRUARY 4TH MUNICIPALITY OF SAME GABRIEL DE VALCARTIER PROVINCE OF QUÉBEC

The General monthly meeting of the local Council of the municipality of St. Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Monday, the Forth day of the month of February,1935, at the usual place of meeting at 2 PM, in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting were present, counselors, Thomas Robinson, William Goodfellow, Irven Jack, James McLaughlin, Willie Hicks, and Charles Hicks, forming a quorum of said Council under the presidency of the mayor, the following resolutions were adopted;

I, hereby certify that I administered the oath of office to Thomas Robinson, James McLaughlin and Willie Hicks, counselors.

I-Moved by Councilor James McLaughlin, and seconded by Councilor Charles Hicks and resolved that this Council do except the resignation of James McCartney, mayor, on account of being overage and that Alfred J. Hicks be appointed mayor to take his place.

2-Moved by Councilor Thomas Robinson and seconded by Councilor James McLaughlin, and resolved that William Goodfellow be reappointed pro mayor for the ensuing term of office.

3-Moved by Councilor Thomas Robinson and seconded by Councilor Charles Hicks and resolved that this Council do pay David Lavallee, the sum of 1,50 $ for maintaining his own right-of-way, known as the McClory Road.

4-Moved by Councilor James McLaughlin and seconded by Councilor Thomas Robinson, and resolved that this Council do ask the minister of colonization for a grant of 750 $ to be spent on the road leading to Tewkesbury.  The petition to be presented to the Prime Minister, Honorable L. A Taschereau

5-Moved by Councilor Charles Hicks and seconded by Councilor Irven Jack and resolved that this Council do ask the minister of roads for a grant of 500 $ on the 50% plan, the petition to be presented to the Prime Minister, Honorable L. A. Taschereau.

6-Moved by Councilor James McLaughlin, and seconded by Councilor Thomas Robinson and resolved that this Council do ask Honorable L. A Taschereau, Prime Minister, for a special grant of $500.00 to help to build the road from Valcartier village to Tewkesbury.

7-Moved by Councilor Charles Hicks and seconded by Councilor Irven Jack and resolved that this Council do appoint Alfred J. Hicks, Mayor, and Percy J. Montgomery secretary-treasurer to present the petitions to the Prime Minister, Honorable L. A.  Taschereau.

8-Moved by Councilor James McLaughlin and seconded by Councilor Charles Hicks and resolved that this Council do order the secretary-treasurer to renew his guarantee policy for the year 1935.

9-Moved by Councilor Charles Hicks and seconded by Councilor Irven Jack and resolved that this Council do pay Percy J. Montgomery secretary-treasurer the sum of $1.50 for one trip to Québec and one trip to assault card she can’t

APRIL 1ST 1935 MUNICIPALITY OF SAINT GABRIEL DE VALCARTIER PROVINCE OF QUÉBEC

A General monthly meeting of the local Council of the municipality of Saint Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Monday, the 1st day of April 1935, at the usual place of meeting at 2 PM, in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting were present Alfred J. Hicks Mayor, counselors, Thomas Robinson, William Goodfellow, Irven Jack, Willie Hicks and Charles Hicks, forming a quorum of said Council under the presidency of the Mayor, the following resolutions were adopted;

1-Moved by Councilor William Goodfellow and seconded by Councilor Irven Jack and resolved that this Council do set the men’s wages for working on the road at $0,20  an hour for a man and $0.10 for a horse to work and eight-hour day.

MAY 7TH 1935 MUNICIPALITY OF SAINT GABRIEL DE VALCARTIER PROVINCE OF QUÉBEC .

A General monthly meeting of the local Council of the municipality of Saint Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Tuesday the 7th day of the month of May at 2 PM in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting were present Alfred J. Hicks, Mayor, Councilor Thomas Robinson, William Goodfellow, Irven Jack, Willie Hicks and Charles Hicks, forming a quorum of said Council, under the presidency of the Mayor, the following resolutions were adopted;

1-Moved by Councilor William Goodfellow and seconded by Councilor Thomas Robinson and resolved that this Council do order the secretary-treasurer to pay all the Winter Road contractors the amount due them.

2-Moved by Councilor Thomas Robinson and seconded by Councilor Charles Hicks and resolved that the resignation of Wilfred Lapire, road inspector, be accepted and that Wallace Jack be appointed to take his place to fill out his term of office.

JUNE 4TH MUNICIPALITY OF SAINT GABRIEL DE VALCARTIER PROVINCE OF QUÉBEC

A General monthly meeting of the local Council of the municipality of Saint Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Tuesday, the 4th day of the month of June 1935, in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at the usual place of meeting at 2 PM, present were Alfred J. Hicks, Mayor, counselors, Thomas Robinson, William Goodfellow, Irven Jack, Willie Hicks and Charlie Hicks, forming a quorum of said Council, under the presidency of the Mayor, the following resolutions were adopted;

1-Moved by Councilor Irven Jack and seconded by Councilor Willie Hicks and resolved that this Council do appoint Charles Stovold, as road inspector, for the division of road from the Saint Ambroise line to the iron bridge at Jacques Cartier River.

2-Moved by Councilor William Goodfellow and seconded by Councilor Charles Hicks, and resolved that Charlie Boyd be appointed as health officer to fill the term of Thomas Billing.

3-Moved by Councilor Thomas Robinson and seconded by Councilor Charles Hicks and resolved that this Council does not think it fair to have to pay for William Cartwright, who is confined in the Jeffrey Hale hospital, as he has not resided in our municipality for over two years and also was not sent from our municipality .

4-Moved by Councilor Charles Hicks and seconded by Councilor William Goodfellow and resolved that this Council do ask the road department to treat the road for dust, leading from Loretteville to Valcartier as there was not enough put on last year.

AUGUST 5TH 1935 MUNICIPALITY OF SAINT GABRIEL DE VALCARTIER PROVINCE OF QUÉBEC .

A General monthly meeting of the local Council of the municipality of Saint Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Monday the 5th day of the month of August 1935, at the usual place of meeting at the hour of 2 p.m. in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting were present, Alfred J. Hicks, Mayor, counselors, Thomas Robinson, William Goodfellow, Irvin Jack, James McLaughlin, Willie Hicks and Charles Hicks, forming a full meeting under the presidency of the mayor, the following resolutions were adopted;

I, the undersigned secretary-treasurer do hereby certify that I administered the oath of office to Charles Stovold, road inspector, and Charles Boyd, health officer.

1-Moved by Councilor Thomas Robinson and seconded by Councilor William Goodfellow and resolved that this Council do reduce the valuation of Valcartier poultry farm, from, $4500.00 to $3000.00  Also Robert Goodfellow’s valuation from $1200.00 to $1150.00 and also Thomas Robinson’s valuation be reduced from $1300.00 to $1275.00 and Irven Jack’s valuation of $700.00 be reduced to $670.00

2-Moved by Councilor James McLaughlin and seconded by Councilor Willie Hicks, and resolved that this counsel do order the secretary-treasurer to notify Camp authorities that there has been many complaints about the men being the worse off liquor and annoying the public on Valcartier Road, and also that the people’s houses, and especially insulting and frightening women and children.

3-Moved by Councilor William Goodfellow and seconded by Councilor Charles Hicks and resolved that this counsel do unanimously adopt the enclosed document and that Mr. Alfred J. Hicks, Mayor, and Mr. Ross Drouin    advocate, be appointed to present this petition before the proper authorities.

4-Moved by Councilor Charles Hicks and seconded by Councilor William Goodfellow and resolved that this counsel do change the valuation of the parsonage from $800.00 to $1000.00 also village school from $700.00 to $1000.00 English Church and property from $2000.00 to $5000.00 and Scotch Church and Manse from $2800.00-$5000.00 United Church property from $2400 to  $5000.00.  Roman Catholic Church from $5000.00 to$10000 .

5-Moved by Councilor Charles Hicks and seconded by Councilor James McLaughlin, and resolved that this counsel do give to Wallace Jack, the privilege of getting water on the side of the road at Fairy lake, providing he does not interfere with other people’s rights.

AUGUST 12TH 1935 MUNICIPALITY OF SAINT GABRIEL DE VALCARTIER PROVINCE OF QUÉBEC

A special meeting of the local Council of the municipality of saint Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Monday the 12th day of the month of August 1935, at the usual place of meeting at 7 p.m. in conformity with the provisions of the Municipal Code of the province of Québec; at which meeting were present Alfred J. Hicks, Mayor, Councilors Thomas Robinson, William Goodfellow, Irven Jack, James McLaughlin, Willie Hicks and Charles Hicks, forming a full quorum of said Council the meeting being convened for the purpose of deciding about spending the government grant of $500.00 on the 75% plan, under the presidency of the Mayor the following resolutions were adopted;

1-Moved by Councilor Charles Hicks and seconded by Councilor Willie Hicks and resolved that James McCartney be appointed as conductor for the road work on the 75% plan on the 5th concession road.

SEPTEMBER 3RD 1935 MUNICIPALITY OF SAINT GABRIEL, DE VALCARTIER PROVINCE OF QUÉBEC

A General monthly meeting of the local Council of the municipality of saying Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Tuesday, the 3rd day of the month of September 1935, at the usual place of meeting at 2 PM, in conformity with the provisions of the Municipal Code of the province of Québec; at which meeting were present, Alfred J. Hicks Mayor, Councilors Thomas Robinson, William Goodfellow, Irven Jack, James McLaughlin, Willie Hicks and Charles Hicks, forming a full meeting of the said Council under the presidency of the Mayor, the following resolutions were adopted;

1-Moved by Councilor Charles Hicks and seconded by Councilor Irven Jack and resolved that the colonization grant be spent to continue on the fifth concession road leading to Tewkesbury .

2-Moved by Councilor William Goodfellow and seconded by Councilor James McLaughlin and resolved that this counsel do ask permission from the municipal Council, to borrow the sum of $1000.00 from the national Bank of Loretteville to pay the men working on the road.

3-Moved by Councilor William Hicks and seconded by Councilor James McLaughlin and resolved that this counsel do ask the road department for an additional grant of $500.00 on the 75% plan to continue on the road to Tewkesbury .

4-Moved by Councilor Charles Hicks and seconded by Councilor William Goodfellow, and resolved that this counsel do authorize Mr. Alfred J. Hicks, Mayor, to present the applications for grant.

5-Moved by Councilor James McLaughlin and seconded by Councilor Willie Hicks and resolved that this counsel do ask the road department to maintain the road to  Valcartier Village with snow – Go for the winter of 1935 and 36.

OCTOBER 7TH 1935 MUNICIPALITY OF SAINT GABRIEL DE VALCARTIER PROVINCE OF QUÉBEC

A General monthly meeting of the local Council of the municipality of Saint Gabriel, de Valcartier was held on October the yth 1935, at the usual place of meeting at 2 PM, in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting were present Alfred J. Hicks, Mayor, Councilor Charlie Hicks, Thomas Robinson, William Goodfellow, Irven Jack, forming a quorum of said Council under the presidency of the Mayor, the following resolutions were adopted;

1-Moved by Councilor Charles Hicks and seconded by Councilor Irven Jack and resolved that this counsel do approve of borrowing, the sum of $1000.00 from Mr. Alfred J. Hicks for three months at 6% interest to pay the men working on the road.

2-Moved by Alfred J. Hicks, Mayor, that Thomas Robinson, William Goodfellow, Irven Jack and Charles Hicks, be named as a committee and given authority to make arrangements about gravel for the fifth concession road.

3-Moved by Councilor William Goodfellow and seconded by Counselor Irven Jack and resolved that this council do authorize the secretary-treasurer to notify Fred Kack road inspector, to clean the ditch and fix the culvert at Thomas Robinson’s gate to carry the water to its outlet immediately, or he will be held responsible for damages.

4-Moved by Councilor Charles Hicks and seconded by Councilor Thomas Robinson and resolved that this council do pay the Secretary treasure, the sum of $8.00 for four trips to Québec on business for the council.

OCTOBER, 28TH 1935 MUNICIPALITY OF SAINT GABRIEL DE VALCARTIER PROVINCE OF QUÉBEC .

The special meeting of the local Council of the municipality of Saint Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Monday, the 28th day of the month of October 1935.  At the usual place of meeting at 2 PM, in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting were present, Alfred J. Hicks, Mayor, Councilors Thomas Robinson, William Goodfellow, Irven Jack, and James McLaughlin, forming a quorum of said Council under the presidency of the Mayor.  The meeting being called for the purpose of opening the tenders for the keeping of the winter roads in this municipality for the winter of 1935 and 36 , the following resolutions were adopted;

1-Moved by Councilor James McLaughlin, and seconded by Councilor Thomas Robinson and resolved that the following tenders for the keeping of the winter roads be accepted by this council for the year 1935 and 1936.

OCTOBER 29, 1935 MUNICIPALITY OF SAINT GABRIEL DE VALCARTIER PROVINCE OF QUÉBEC

A special meeting of the local Council of the municipality of Saint Gabriel  de Valcartier was held on Tuesday, the 29th day of the month of October 1935, at the usual place of meeting at 7:30 p.m. in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting were present . Alfred J. Hicks, Mayor, counselors, Thomas Robison, William Goodfellow, Irvine . Jack, James McLachlan and Willie Hicks, forming a quorum of said Council under the presidency of the Mayor.  The meeting being convened for the purpose of reading, approving of the accounts paid out by the Secretary treasure from November the second 1934 to November the fourth 1935, and also approving of the $1334.00 dollars spent on the 75% plan, the following resolutions were adopted;

1-Moved by Councilor William Goodfellow and seconded by Councilor James McLachlan and resolve to that this Council do approve of the sum of 3894 $.  07, paid out by the Secretary treasure from November the second 1934 to November the fourth 1935.

2-Moved by Councilor Urban Jack and seconded by Councilor Thomas Robinson and resolve to that this Council do approve and ratify the present report prepared by the Secretary treasure of this Council, amounting to 1334 $ .00 $ to certain expenditures for the roadwork done by this Council on the 75% plan .

3-Moved by Councilor James McLaughlin and seconded by Councilor William Goodfellow and resolve that this Council do agree to pay . James McCartney, the sum off 100 $ .00 for four gravel to complete the road to Murphy’s rocks.

NOVEMBER 4TH 1935 MUNICIPALITY OF SAINT GABRIEL DE VALCARTIER PROVINCE OF QUÉBEC .

A General monthly meeting of the local Council of the municipality of saying Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Monday, the 4th day of the month of November 1935 at the usual place of meeting at 2 p.m. in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting were President Alfred J. Hicks, Mayor, counselors, Thomas Robinson, William Goodfellow, Irvin Jack James McLaughlin, Willie Hicks and Charles Hicks, forming a full meeting of the said Council under the presidency of the Mayor, the following resolutions were adopted;

1-Moved my counselor, Charles Hicks and seconded by Councilor Irvin Jack and resolved that this Council do levy a tax of $1,70 one Dollar and Seventy cents per hundred on all taxable property to defray the expenses of 1935 and 36.

2-Moved by Councilor James McLaughlin and seconded by Councilor William Goodfellow and resolved that this Council do ask the provincial road department to widen and deepen the road at least 6 or 8 ft. in order to make a lesser grade at the place known as the Scotch Hill, and also to shore up with timbers, the side opposite the Presbyterian church to prevent undermining the cemetery.

3-Moved by Councilor Irvin Jack and seconded by Councilor Charlie Hicks and resolved that this Council do ask the public Works Department to widen the Mill Hill bridge situated about 6 ½ miles from Loretteville, to at least 24 ft.; its present width being only about 16 ft..  Being as it is at the foot of a long winding Hill,16 ft. is much too narrow and a source of great danger to the public in general, as the traffic at this point, especially on weekends is considerable.

NOVEMBER THE 11th 1935 MUNICIPALITY OF SAINT GABRIEL DE VALCARTIER PROVINCE OF QUÉBEC

A special meeting of the local Council of the municipality of Saint Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Monday, the 11th day of the month of November 1935, at the usual place of meeting at seven o’clock in the evening, in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting were present, Alfred J. Hicks, Mayor, counselors, Thomas Robinson, William Goodfellow, and Charles Hixks, forming a quorum of said council.  The meeting being called for the purpose of amending the electoral list for the provincial election under the presidency of the mayor, the following resolutions were adopted;

1-Moved by Councilor Charles Hicks and seconded by Councilor Tomas Robinson and resolved that the voters list for the parliamentary elections has been revised.

2-Moved by Councilor Charles Hicks and Seconded by Councilor Tomas Robinson and Resolved that this meeting be adjourned.

DECEMBER 2ND 1935 MUNICIPALITY OF SAINT GABRIEL DE VALCARTIER PROVINCE OF QUÉBEC .

A General monthly meeting of the local Council of the municipality of Saint Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Monday the second day of the month of December 1935, at the usual place of meeting at 2 PM in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting were present, Alfred J. Hicks, Mayor, counselors, Thomas Robinson, William Goodfellow, Irvin Jack, Willie Hicks and Charles Hicks, forming a quorum of said Council under the presidency of the mayor, the following resolutions were adopted;

1-Moved by Councilor Charles Hicks and seconded by Councilor Irvin Jack and resolved that this Council do ask the road department to take over and maintain the portion of road built in the summer of 1935, in the fifth concession and leading to Tewkesbury .

2-Moved by Councilor William Goodfellow and seconded by Councilor Irvin Jack and resolved that this Council do send Mr. Nelson Tweedle’s property to the County Council for taxes.

3-Moved by Councilor Charles Hicks and seconded by Councilor Thomas Robinson and resolved that this Council do hand over to Alfred J. Hicks, the check for 1000 $ when we receive it from the road department and to have the loan extended for another month if we do not receive the check before the 21st of December 1935.

4-Moved by Councilor Irvin Jack and seconded by Councilor Charles Hicks and resolved that this Council do authorize the secretary-treasurer to pay Mervin Boyd’s bill as soon as possible to the provincial secretary.

5-Moved by Councilor William Goodfellow and seconded by Councilor Charles Hicks and resolved that this Council do appoint Mr. Alfred J. Hicks mayor, and the secretary treasure to see the member, Mr. Frank Byrne, about William Cartwright, who is confined in the Jeffrey Hale hospital.

6-Moved by Councilor Thomas Robinson and seconded by Councilor William Goodfellow and resolved that this meeting be adjourned.

DECEMBER 9TH  1935 MUNICIPALITY OF SAINT GABRIEL DE VALCARTIER PROVINCE OF QUÉBEC .

A special meeting of the local Council of the municipality of Saint Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Monday the 9th day of the month of December 1935, at the usual place of meeting at seven o’clock in the evening, in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting were present Alfred J. Hicks, Mayor, counselors, Thomas Robinson, William Goodfellow, Irvin Jack, James McLaughlin, Willie Hicks and Charles Hicks, forming a full meeting of said Council.  The meeting being called for the purpose of canceling the Winter road contracts on division number 1 and 2, and also to sign the resolution for the road department to send out snow-go, and to see about the portion of road, leading from the main road to Fairy Lake, also to approve of the amount spent on the 75% land on the 5th concession road, under the presidency of the mayor, the following resolutions were adopted;

1-Moved by Councilor Irvin Jack and seconded by Councilor William Goodfellow and resolved that this Council do sign the agreement for the department to maintain the road to Valcartier, with snow-go, for the winter of 1935 and 36 .

2-Moved by Councilor James McLaughlin and seconded by Councilor Charles Hicks and resolved that this Council do cancel the Winter road contracts on division number 1 and number 2.

3-Moved by Councilor Charles Hicks and seconded by Councilor James McLaughlin and resolved that this Council, do give George Wolff the sum of five dollars for keeping the Winter road, leading from the main road to Fairy Lake, for the winter of 1935 and 36.

4-Moved by Councilor Charles Hicks and seconded by Councilor James McLaughlin and resolved that this counsel do approve and ratify the present report prepared by the secretary-treasurer of this council, but, amounting to some off 1334 $ to certain expenditure for road work done on the 75% plan in the summer of 1935.

5-Moved by Councilor William Goodfellow and seconded by Councilor Irvin Jack and resolved that this meeting be adjourned .

JANUARY THE 7th 1936 MUNICIPALITY OF SAINT GABRIEL DE VALCARTIER PROVINCE OF QUÉBEC

A General monthly meeting of the local Council of the municipality of saint Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Tuesday, the seventh day of the month of January 1936, at the usual place of meeting at 2 PM in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting where President Alfred J. Hicks, Mayor, counselors, Thomas Robinson, William Goodfellow, Irvin Jack, James McLaughlin Charles Hicks, forming a quorum of said council, under the presidency of the mayor, the following resolutions were adopted;

1-Moved by Councilor Charles Hicks and seconded by Councilor James McLaughlin and resolved that this council do extend the note for 1 month of the sum of 1000 $, orrowed from Mr. Alfred J. Hicks, from December 21 to January 21, 1936.

JANUARY 8th1936 MUNICIPALITY OF SAINT GABRIEL DE VALCARTIER  PROVINCE OF QUÉBEC .

A meeting of the electors of the municipality of Saint Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Wednesday, the 8th day of the month of January 1936, at the council room at 10 a.m. for the purpose of nominating three new counselors to take the place of William Goodfellow, Irvin Jack and Charles Hicks, whose term of office has expired.

Moved by Thomas Robinson and seconded by Wallace Jack, that the following men be reappointed to their respective positions, William Goodfellow, Irven Jack and Charles Hicks as counselors for the ensuing term of office.

As there was no opposition to the motion, I, the undersigned presiding officer declare the meeting at an end and that the aforementioned candidates are duly elected.

The General monthly meeting of the local Council of the municipality of Saint Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Monday, the third day of the month of February 1936, at the usual place of meeting at 2 PM in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting where President Alfred J. Hicks mayor, counselors, Thomas Robinson, William Goodfellow, James McLaughlin, Willie Hicks and Charles Hicks, forming a quorum of said Council under the presidency of the mayor the following resolutions were adopted;

I, the undersigned mayor, do hereby certify that I administered the oath of office to William Goodfellow and Charles Hicks, counselors.

1-Moved by Councilor Charles Hicks and seconded by Councilor James McLaughlin and resolved that this Council do extend the note for 1 month, on the sum of  $1000.00  borrowed from Mr. Alfred J. Hicks, from January 21 to February the 21st 1936 .

2-Moved by Councilor William Goodfellow and seconded by Councilor Willie Hicks and resolved that the minister of roads be requested for a grant of $1000.00 on the 75% plan, to be spent on the Roche ussian Platte Road and leading to Tewkesbury, the petition to be presented through our member, Mr. Frank Byrne, L. MARCH 2, 1936 MUNICIPALITY OF SAINT GABRIEL DE VALCARTIER PROVINCE OF QUÉBEC .

At General monthly meeting of the local Council of the municipality of Saint Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Monday the second day of the month of March 1936 at the usual place of meeting at 2 PM in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting were present, Alfred J. Hicks, Mayor, counselors, such Robinson, James McLaughlin, Willie Hicks and Charles Hicks, forming a quorum of said Council under the presidency of the mayor, the following resolutions were adopted;

1-Moved by Councilor James McLaughlin and seconded by Councilor Charles Hicks and resolved that this Council do extend the note for another month on $1000.00 borrowed from Mr. Alfred J. Hicks, from February the 21st to March to 21st 1936.

2-Moved by Councilor James McLaughlin and seconded by Councilor Charles Hicks and resolved that Samuel Seed be appointed as Councilor, to fill a vacancy caused by Irven Jack’s refusal to accept reelection.

A general monthly meeting  of the local council of the municipality of St. Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Monday the sixth day of the month of April 1936 at the usual place of meeting at the hour of 2 p.m. in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting were present, Alfred J. Hicks, Mayor, counselors Thomas Robinson, William Goodfellow, Samuel Seed Willie Hicks and Charles Hicks, forming a quorum of said Council under the presidency of the Mayor, the following resolutions were adopted;

A general monthly meeting of the local Council of the municipality of Saint Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Monday in the fourth day of the month of May 1936, at the usual place of meeting at 2 PM in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting were present, Alfred J. Hicks, Mayor, counselors, Thomas Robinson, William Goodfellow, Samuel Seed, James McLaughlin and Charles Hicks, forming a quorum of said Council under the presidency of the mayor, the following resolutions were adopted;

1-Moved by counselors Samuel Seed and seconded by Councilor James McLaughlin and resolved that William Goodfellow be appointed as pro mayor for the ensuing term of office .

2-Moved by Councilor William Goodfellow and seconded by Councilor Thomas Robinson and resolved that this Council will proceed at the next meeting to pass a bylaw to take over the road leading from Patrick Corrigan’s gate to the wooden bridge.

3-Moved by Councilor Samuel Seed and seconded by Councilor James McLaughlin and resolved that this council do appoint Charles Hicks, William Goodfellow and Tomas Robinson, to go and examin the road from Pat Corrigan’s gate to the wooden bridge and to report condition of above-mentioned road at next monthly  meeting.

JUNE 1ST 1936 MUNICIPALITY OF SAINT GABRIEL DE VALCARTIER PROVINCE OF QUÉBEC

A General monthly meeting of the local Council of the municipality of Saint Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Monday the 1st day of June 1936, at the usual place of meeting at 2 PM in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; and which meeting were present Alfred J. Hicks, Mayor, counselors Thomas Robison, William Goodfellow, and Samuel Seed, forming a quorum of said council, under the presidency of the Mayor, the following resolutions were adopted;

 1-Moved by Counselor Samuel Seed and seconded by Counselor William Goodfellow and resolved that this council do take over and maintain the portion of road leading from Patrick Corrigan’s gate to the wooden bridge and that a bylaw be drown up to that effect.

2-Moved by Counselor Charles Hicks and seconded by Counselor Samuel Seed and resolved that the secretary-treasurer be ordered to put up a notice prohibiting trucks to hauling loads of over three toneson the Roche Platte Road.

3-Moved by Counselor Charles Hicks and seconded by Counselor William Goodfellow and resolved that this council do order the secretary-treasurer to notify Father Dumont that there has been a complaint about his dog annoying the public and to tie him up and keep him off the public highway.

4-Move by Councilor Samuel Seed and seconded by Councilor Thomas Robinson and resolved that the valuation roll has been revised and accepted with the exception of Valcartier poultry farm, and it was discussed and decided that as it is a new industry they would leave it at the same valuation for another year only.

5-Move by Councilor William Goodfellow and seconded by Councilor Thomas Robinson, and resolved that the valuation of William McCartney’s property be divided-281 lot number be valued at $700.00  and Mrs. Harold Banning be valued at $800.00 $ on lot number be 281 and Wallace Jack be reduced from $100-$75 on lot number be 281, also that Louis Gauy be valued at $60.00 on lot number 894 bought from Joseph provincial.

JULY,  6TH MUNICIPALITY OF SAINT GABRIEL DE VALCARTIER  PROVINCE OF QUÉBEC

A general monthly meeting of the local Council of the municipality of Saint Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Monday the sixth day of the month of July 1936 at the usual place of meeting at 2 PM in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting were present Alfred J. Hicks, Mayor, counselors, Thomas Robinson, William Goodfellow, Samuel Seed, James McLaughlin and Willie Hicks, forming a quorum of said counsel under the  presidency of the Mayor, the following resolutions were adopted;

1-Moved by Councilor Samuel Seed and seconded by Councilor James McLaughlin and resolved that this council do renew the policy on insurance for the men working on the road.

2-Moved by Councilor Samuel Seed and seconded by Councilor William Goodfellow and resolved that this council do order the secondary treasure to pay for the culvert for the road near Murphy’s rocks.

AUGUST 3RD1936 MUNICIPALITY OF SAINT GABRIEL DE VALCARTIER PROVINCE OF QUÉBEC.

A general monthly meeting of the local council of the municipality of saint Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Monday the third day of August 1936, at the usual place of meeting at 2 pm, in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting were present Alfred J. Hicks, Mayor, counselors, Thomas Robinson, William Goodfellow, Samuel Seed, James McLaughlin, Willie Hicks and Charles Hick, forming a full meeting of said Council under the presidency of the Mayor, the following resolutions were adopted .

1-Moved by Councilor Samuel Seed and seconded by Councilor Charles Hicks and resolved that this council do order the Stoneham Council to look after the water, where it comes on to the big hill at the line between  Valcartier and Stoneham. 

2-Moved by Councilor James McLaughlin and seconded by Councilor Samuel Seed and resolved that this council do pay Patrick Corrigan and Michael Corrigan, the sum off $14.00 per thousand feet for the lumber used for the bridges in Roche Platte.

SEPTEMBER 8TH1936 MUNICIPALITY OF SAINT GABRIEL DE VALCARTIER PROVINCE OF QUÉBEC

A general monthly meeting of the local Council of the municipality of Saint Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Tuesday the eighth day of the month of September 1936, at the usual place of meeting at 2 PM in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting were present Alfred J. Hicks, Mayor, counselors, William Goodfellow, Samuel Seed, James McLaughlin, Willie Hicks and Charles Hicks, forming a quorum of said Council under the presidency of the Mayor, the following resolutions were adopted .

1-Moved by Councilor James McLaughlin and seconded by Councilor Samuel Seed that this Council do order Patrick Corrigan to repair the road leading to the wooden bridge and to spend the sum of $50.00 on the work and also to fix the bridge in the big bush.

A.  general monthly meeting of the local Council of the municipality of Saint Gabriel de Valcartier, held on Monday, the fifth day of the month of October 1936, at the usual place of meeting at 2 PM in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting were present Alfred J. Hicks, Mayor, counselors William Goodfellow, Samuel Seed, James McLaughlin . Willie Hicks and Charlie Hicks, forming a quorum of said Council under the presidency of the Mayor, the following resolutions were adopted;

B.   1-Moved by Councilor William Goodfellow and seconded by Councilor Charles Hicks and resolved that this Council do petition the provincial road apartment to maintain the road to the iron bridge with snow go for the winter of 1936 and 37 .

C.   2-Moved by Councilor Samuel Seed and seconded by Councilor James McLaughlin and resolved that this Council do petition the Saint Ambroise Council  to maintain their portion of road from Chateau D’eau line to Valcartier line with snow go for the winter of 1936 and 37 .

D.   3-Moved by Councilor William Goodfellow and seconded by Councilor Samuel Seed and resolved that this Council do petition, the provincial road apartment to place a road conductor in the municipality of Saint Gabriel de Valcartier, to look after the road taken over by the government.

E.   4-Moved by Councilor James McLaughlin and seconded by Councilor Charles Hicks and resolved that this Council do agree to sell the winter road keeping by public Auction at the council room on October the 26,1936 at 2 PM .

NOVEMBER 2, 1936 MUNICIPALITY OF SAINT GABRIEL DE VALCARTIER PROVINCE OF QUÉBEC

A.   General monthly meeting of the local Council of the municipality of Saint Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Monday the second day of the month of November 1936, at the usual place of meeting at 2 PM in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting were present Alfred J. Hicks, Mayor, counselors Thomas Robinson, William Goodfellow, James McLaughlin, Willie Hicks and Charles Hicks, Samuel Seed, forming a full meeting of said Council under the presidency of the Mayor, the following resolutions were adopted;

B.   1-Moved by Councilor Samuel Seed and seconded by Councilor Charles Hicks and resolved that this Council do send all arrears to the County Council, if not paid by November the 21st 1936.

C.   2-Moved by Councilor Samuel Seed and seconded by Councilor William Goodfellow and resolved that this Council will sell by public auction, division number one and number two Winter keeping of road on November the 25th,1936.

D.   3-Moved by Councilor Willie Hicks and seconded by Councilor James McLaughlin and resolved that this Council do levy a tax of $1.25 per hundred dollars to defray the expenses of 1936 and 37, on all taxable property.

NOVEMBER THE 26th MUNICIPALITY OF SAINT GABRIEL DE VALCARTIER PROVINCE OF QUÉBEC .

A special meeting of the local Council of the municipality of Saint Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Thursday, the 26th day of the month of November 1936 at the usual place of meeting at 7:30 p.m. in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting were present Alfred J. Hicks Mayor, Councilor’s William Goodfellow, Samuel Seed and Willie Hicks, forming a quorum of said council.  The meeting being called for the purpose of signing the contract for snow-go to maintain road for winter of 1936 and 37, under the presidency of the Mayor, the following resolutions were adopted;

1-Moved by Councilor Samuel Seed and seconded by Councilor William Goodfellow and resolved that this council requests the road from Valcartier line to the iron bridge to be maintained with snow-go for the winter of 1936 and 37.

2-Moved by Councilor William Goodfellow and seconded by Councilor Willie Hicks and resolved that this meeting be adjourned.

A General monthly meeting of the local Council of the municipality of Saint Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Monday, this seventh day of the month of December 1936, at the usual place of meeting at 2 p.m. in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting were present, Alfred J. Hicks, Mayor, Councilor’s Thomas Robinson, William Goodfellow, Samuel Seed, James McLaughlin, Willie Hicks and Charles Hicks, forming a full meeting of said council, under the presidency of the Mayor, the following resolutions were adopted .

1-Moved by Councilor William Goodfellow and seconded by Councilor Samuel Seed and resolved that this council do except the insurance policy number 811,518, taken out by the municipality of Saint Gabriel West on the road from the Saint Ambroise line to Saint Gabriel West for the winter of 1936 and 37

2-Moved by Councilor James McLaughlin and seconded by counselors Samuel Seed and resolved that this council do accept the audit of the council accounts for the year ending October 31,1936.

2-Moved by counselor Samuel Seed and seconded by Councilor William Goodfellow, and resolved that this council do send all arrears of taxes of two-year 1935, to the County Council sale.

4-Moved by Councilor Charlie Hicks and seconded by Councilor Samuel Seed, and resolved that this council do request the provincial road apartment to improve the road to Valcartier Village and to widen it out for better passing.

JANUARY 4TH 1937 MUNICIPALITY OF SAINT GABRIEL DE VALCARTIER PROVINCE OF QUÉBEC

A General monthly meeting of the local Council of the municipality of Saint Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Monday before day of January 1937, at the usual place of meeting at 2 PM in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting were present, Alfred J. Hicks mayor, counselors, Thomas Robinson, William Goodfellow, Samuel Seed, James McLaughlin, Willie Hicks and Charles Hicks, forming a full meeting of said Council . under the presidency of the mayor, the following resolutions were adopted;

1-Moved by Councilor James McLaughlin, and seconded by Councilor Charles Hicks and resolved that this council do ask the road department to put more snow fences up as there is places where there is not enough, and there is not as much as last year.

2-Moved by Councilor Charles Hicks and seconded by Councilor Samuel Seed and resolved that this council do give Alfred J. Hicks, Mayor, a hearty vote of thanks for his fateful services rendered during his 10 years of service as mayor tendered on his retirement from office.

3-Moved by Councilor William Goodfellow and seconded by Councilor James McLaughlin and resolved that this council do request a reduction on the rates on electricity in our municipality.

A special meeting of the local Council of the municipality of Saint Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Tuesday the 16th day of the month of February 1937 at 7:30 p.m. in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting were present Councilors Oliver Kiley, Michael Corrigan, Colin Brown, Samuel Seed, Ernest McBain and Charles Hicks, forming a quorum of said council.  The meeting being called for the purpose of accepting the resignation of William Goodfellow Mayor, and also to accept the security of Willard Goodfellow’s road contract.

A General monthly meeting of the local Council of the municipality of Saint Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Monday the seventh day of the month of June 1937 at the usual place of meeting at 2 PM, in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting were present William Goodfellow, Mayor, Councilor’s Oliver Kiely, Michael Corrigan, Samuel Seed and Ernest McBain, forming a quorum of said Council, under the presidency of the mayor, the following resolutions were adopted;

A general monthly meeting of the local Council of the municipality of Saint Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Monday the fifth day of the month of July 1937 at the usual place of meeting at 2 PM, in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting were present, William Goodfellow Mayor, Councilor’s Oliver Kiely, Michael Corrigan, Ernest McBain and Charles Hicks, forming a quorum of said Council under the presidency of the mayor, the following resolutions were adopted;

AUGUST 2ND 1937 MUNICIPALITY OF SAINT GABRIEL DE VALCARTIER PROVINCE OF QUÉBEC

A General monthly meeting of the local Council of the municipality of Saint Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Monday, the second day of the month of August 1937, at the usual place a meeting at 2 PM in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting were present William Goodfellow, Mayor, counselors Oliver Kiley, Michael Corrigan, Colin Brown, Samuel Seed, Ernest McBain and Charles Hicks, forming a full meeting of said Council under the presidency of the Mayor, the following resolutions were adopted;

1-Moved by Councilor Ernest McBain and seconded by Councilor Oliver Kiely and resolved that this council do sell by public auction the keeping of the winter roads from Valcartier village to the Tewkesbury line, also Stoneham Road and road leading to Fairy Lake for the winter of 1937 and 38, to be sold at the council room at 7 p.m. on October the 25th,1937.

A special meeting of the local Council of the municipality of Saint Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Wednesday the 13th day of the month of October 1937, at the usual place of meeting at 7:30 p.m., in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting where President William Goodfellow, Mayor, Councilor Oliver Kiely, Michael Corrigan, Colin Brown, Samuel Seed and Ernest McBain, forming a quorum of said council.  The meeting being called for the purpose of asking the Council of Saint Ambroise to maintain their portion of road with  swow-go for the winter of 1937 and 38, and also to decide about working on Roche platte Road, under the presidency of the Mayor, the following resolutions were adopted;

1-Moved by Councilor Kiely and seconded by Councilor Michael Corrigan and resolved that this council do  petition the Council of St. Ambroise to maintain their portion of road from Château D’eau to Valcartier line with snow-go for the winter of 1937 and 38

2-Moved by Councilor Colin Brown and seconded by Councilor Oliver Kiely and resolved that this counsel do pay the men $0.25 an hour for working on the road on the government Seeds plan and one dollar a day for a horse, also to order the secretary-treasurer to buy some drills and dynamite.

NOVEMBER  2ND 1937 MUNICIPALITY OF ST. GABRIEL DE VALCARTIER PROVINCE OF QUÉBEC

A general monthly meeting of the local council of the municipality of St. Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Tuesday . the second day of the month of November 1937 at the usual place of meeting at 2 pm, in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting where president William Goodfellow, Mayor, counselors, Oliver Kiley, Michael Corrigan, Colin Brown, Samuel Sseed and Earnest McBain and Charles Hicks, forming a full meeting of said council under the presidency of the Mayor, the following resolutions were adopted .

1-Mmoved by councilor Michael Corrigan and seconded by councilor Charles Hicks and resolved that this council do approve of the amount of $1638.23, disbursements for the year 1936 and 37, after hearing the same read. 

2-Moved by Councilor Samuel Seed and seconded by Councilor Ernest McBain and resolved that this Council do levy a tax of $1.20 per hundred dollars valuation to defray the expenses of 1937 and 38.

3-Moved by Councilor Charles Hicks and seconded by Councilor Colin Brown and resolved that this Council do order the secretary-treasurer to put up a notice at Murphy’s rocks, prohibiting trucks from hauling over 5 tons over bridges on Roche Platte.  Anyone doing so are at their own risk.

4-Moved by Councilor Oliver Kiley and seconded by Councilor Ernest McBain and resolved that this Council do pay the secretary-treasurer at the sum of $2.00 for driving valuaters and doing the necessary writing.

5-Moved by Councilor Michael Corrigan and seconded by Councilor Samuel Seed and resolved that this Council do appoint William Goodfellow Mayor to go and interview those in authority, to see about snow-go maintaining 5th concession road for winter of 1937 and 38.

6-Moved by Councilor Charles Hicks and seconded by Councilor Oliver Kiley and resolved that this Council do petition the Honorable Prime Minister Maurice Duplessis , to lower the license on cars as there is quite a number of cars and they are not receiving any grants from government towards roads.

A special meeting of the local council of the municipality of St. Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Thursday this 18th day of the month of November 1937,at the usual place of meeting at 7:30 p.m., in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting were present, William Goodfellow, Mayor,  counsellors Oliver Kiley, Michael Corrigan, Colin Brown, Samuel Seed, Ernest McBain and Charles Hicks, forming a full meeting of said council.  The meeting being called for the purpose of deciding about an assurance on road maintained by snow-go, under the presidency of the Mayor, the following resolutions were adopted;

1-Moved by Councilor Samuel Seed and seconded by Councilor Oliver Kiley and resolved that this council do appoint Mr. James Clark to take out an insurance policy, covering road maintained by snow-go, for the winter of 1937 and 38, this council do agree to pay half the cost of policy from Chateau D’eau to the iron bridge at Valcartier.

The General monthly meeting of the local Council of the municipality of Saint Gabriel de Valcartier was held on the third day the month of January 1938, at the usual place of meeting at 2 PM, in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting where President William Goodfellow Mayor, counsellors Colin Brown, Samuel Seed, Earnest McBain and Charles Hicks, forming a quorum of said Council under the presidency of the mayor, the following resolutions were adopted;

1-Moved by Councilor Samuel Seed and seconded by Councilor Charles Hicks and resolved that the statement and audit of the Council books for the year 1936 and 37 be accepted.

2-Moved by Councilor Colin Brown and seconded by Councilor Ernest McBain and resolved that this meeting be adjourned.

JANUARY 12, 1938 MUNICIPALITY OF SAINT GABRIEL DE VALCARTIER PROVINCE OF QUÉBEC

A meeting of the electors of the municipality of Saint Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Wednesday, the 12th day of the month of January 1938 at the Council room at 10 a.m. for the purpose of nominating three new counsellors to take the place of Charles Hicks, Samuel Seed and Colin Brown, whose term of office has expired

Moved by Wilfred Goodfellow and seconded by Auguste, Paquet, that Charles Hicks, Samuel Seed and Colin Brown be reappointed as counsellors for the ensuing term of office.  As there was no opposition to the motion, I, the undersigned presiding officer, declare the meeting at end and that the aforementioned candidates are duly elected.

FEBRUARY 7TH 1938 MUNICIPALITY OF SAINT GABRIEL DE VALCARTIER PROVINCE OF QUÉBEC .

The General monthly meeting of the local Council of the municipality of Saint Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Monday, the seventh day of the month of February 1938, at the usual place of meeting at 2 PM, in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting where Present William Goodfellow, Mayor, counsellors Colin Brown,  Samuel Seed, Ernest McBain and Charles Hicks, forming a quorum of said Council, under the presidency of the Mayor the following resolutions were adopted;

1-Moved by Councilor Charles Hicks and seconded by Councilor Samuel Seed and resolved that this Council do request the minister of roads for a grant of $2000.00 to be spent on Roche Platte Road, leading to Tewkesbury, as it is costing our municipality a lot of money as we are not able to keep the bridges repaired for heavy trucks.

2-Moved by Councilor Colin Brown and seconded by Councilor Ernest McBain and resolved that this Council do request, the minister of colonization for a grant to widen the Roche Platte road leading to Tewkesbury

3-Moved by counsellor Ernest McBain and seconded by Councilor Samuel Seed and resolved that this council do ask Mr. Pageau, Mayor of Ancienne Lorette, to present the applications for grants.

4-Moved by Councilor Charles Hicks and seconded by Councilor Colin Brown and resolved that this council do ask the Department of public works to widen the Mill Hill bridge, as it is in a dangerous condition, this council under the opinion that the east side is the best side to widen it on.

5-Moved by Councilor Samuel Seed and seconded by Councilor Colin Brown and resolved that this meeting be adjourned.

MARCH 7TH 1938 MUNICIPALITY OF SAINT GABRIEL DE VALCARTIER PROVINCE OF QUÉBEC

A General monthly meeting at the local Council of the municipality of saint Gabriel de Valcartier was held on Monday, the seventh day of the month of March 1938, at the usual place of meeting, at 2 p.m. in conformity with the provisions of the municipal code of the province of Québec; at which meeting were present William Goodfellow, Mayor, counsellors Oliver Kiely, Michael Corrigan, Colin Brown, Samuel Seed Earnest McBain and Charles Hicks, forming a full meeting of said council, under the presidency of the Mayor, the following resolutions were adopted;

1-Moved by Councilor Ernest McBain and seconded by Councilor Oliver Kiely and resolved that this council do reappoint Charles Hicks as pro Mayor.

2-Moved by Councilor Charles Hicks and seconded by Councilor Oliver Kiely and resolved that this council do appoint the following men to act as road inspectors, valuaters, health officer, pound keeper, rural inspector and weed inspecters.

George Wells for division in number had 1 from line to Jacques Archie River Bridge, also the road to fairy lake.

Reginald Boyd, for division number 2 from Valcartier village to Murphy’s rocks, also wrote to call in Brown’s.

Willie should a third division number 3 from Murphy’s rocks to the Tewkesbury line, and also the road known as the McClory Road and the wrote to wooden bridge.

                        Who is no longer resident of the municipality.

Sept 6th 1938   Do ask the minister of roads to close the road to Stoneham

 known as the priest’s road.
