On the fifth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and ninety seven, before the undersigned Notary Public for the Province of Quebec, Canada, residing and practicing in the City of Quebec, personally came and appeared Mr. James Farquhar, of the Parish of St. Gabriel of Valcartier, in the County of Quebec, in the said Province, Farmer, who, in the presence of the witnesses hereinafter named, declared that he was desirous of making his last will and testament, which he instantly made in manner and form following:

First, I desire that all my just debts be paid and satisfied as soon as possible after my decease.

Secondly, I give, devise and bequeath unto my daughter Mathilda Farquhar, the sum of two hundred dollars, to be paid to her in and by four yearly installments of fifty dollars each my executor and universal legatee hereinafter named.

Thirdly, I give, devise and bequeath unto my son John Farquhar all and every the residue of my estate and property, real and personal, moveable and immoveable, money in bank or otherwise, bank and other stocks and shares, farming instruments, machinery, rolling and live stock, of every nature and kind whatsoever of which I may be possessed at the time of my decease, constituting him hereby my universal residuary legatee, and sole executor of my present last will and testament.

Fourthly, I hereby revoke and make void any and all wills and codicils by me at any time heretofore made, and declare the present to contain my only true last wishes and intentions.

It was thus made and dictated by the Testator to the said Notary in the presence and hearing of Godfroi Prendergast, Esquire, Clerk, and Frederick P. O'Connell, Clerk, both of the said City of Quebec, and by the said Notary read over to the said Testator in their presence and hearing, and he declared to have well heard and understood the same, and persisted therein.

Done and passed at the said City of Quebec, on the day and year herein firstly above written, in the office of John B. Parkin the undersigned Notary, under the number of his minutes three thousand four hundred and sixty eight, the said Testator having signed his present last will and testament in the presence of the said witnesses and of the said Notary, who have signed in his presence and in the presence of each other, according to law.
