Obituary* | 7 May 2002 | Winnipeg Free Press, Winnipeg, Winnipeg Metro Region, Manitoba, Canada; KAREN DENISE HOLTON (nee BALE) September 6, 1953 May 3, 2002 Sadly, on Friday, May 3, 2002 Denise's courageous battle came to a sad ending. Denise is survived by her husband Larry; and children, Meagan (Fernando), Kyle (Dana), and Aynsley (Alec); and sadly, the brightest love of her life, her new granddaughter Kayla, Denise is also survived by her brother Doug Bale, aunt Eleanor Benson, cousin Tanis and Gary Evers and family. She will also be sadly missed by her in-laws, Bernie and Myrtle Holton and family. Denise was predeceased by her mother Sylvia (1999) and father Ralph Bale (1966). All who were blessed to have known Denise admired her. She was a very gentle, kind, and giving person. While raising her family, Denise was a volunteer at Crescentwood Community Centre. Denise could always be counted on to help out at the canteen and provide support in the many sport activities her children were involved in from hockey to gymnastics. Denise served on the Board of Directors and held many executive positions including President of the centre. Denise was nominated by the members of Crescentwood Community Centre as Volunteer of the Year and received recognition from the City of Winnipeg. Denise will be sadly missed by the gang at The Profit Recovery Group, where she was employed. Denise really enjoyed the people she worked with. Thank you for the compassion directed her way. She was also employed as a Tour Director for Embassy Tours and made good friends with her co-workers ar.d many of the customers she met. A special thanks to all our friends for the overwhelming love and support given to us during Denise's illness and during this most difficult time. Special thanks to Dr. Pat Harris and the members of her Oncology Team, nurse Marie from Oncology and nurse Joanne from 3 West at the Grace Hospital for all their tender, compassionate care. Also special thanks to Dr. Todd Sekundiak and his team at the St. Boniface Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 10 at the Selkirk Evangelical Lutheran Church, 329 Clandeboye Ave., with Pastor Stan Richards officiating. A private family interment will take place at a later date. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.1 |
