Catherine of Fossambault in the County of Portneuf and District of Quebec hereof, who being in apparently good health of body and a sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, blessed be the Almighty God for the same, hath declared unto us the said Notary and witnesses that considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time hereof, wished to make his last will and testament and accordingly he did make, declare and dictate the same word for word unto us the said Notary and witnesses in manner following:

1º The Testator doth recommend his soul to unto the hands of Almighty God, his Creator and Saviour, and his body he commits to the earth to be interred in a manner suitable to his condition at the time of his decease.

Obituary*December 2021Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; "With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Lori-Anne Houston (nee Grieve) on December 29, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. Lori is survived by her husband of 41 years, Donald; her children, Pamela (Thomas), James (Melissa) and Michael (Kayla); grandchildren, Emersyn, Jackson and Liam; her brother, Ross (Kathy); brother in law, Joesph (Ginette); sister in laws, Dianne (Richard) and Linda (Alan); as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Alexander and Isabel Grieve; her father and mother in law, Joesph and Lucy Houston; and her best friend Heather Sulkers.

Lori grew up in North Kildonan where she attended Lord Kitchener School, John Pritchard School and River East Collegiate. She graduated from Nursing in 1975 and started her career at Health Sciences Centre where she worked for 46 years. Lori was born to be a caregiver and would be the first to step up and help when someone was in need. Even through sickness she was more worried about everyone else, not herself. She was so proud to be a nurse and made many lifelong friendships and connections that she cherished so much. Lori enjoyed spending time at the family cabin at Flanders Lake with her family and friends, taking a peaceful kayak ride in the morning or pontooning around the lake. She enjoyed travelling, especially to go visit her brother. Lori loved watching her children and grandchildren grow up. She was so proud of all of them and was always there when they needed her. Lori was known to have many friendships from all parts of life; the old “gang”, her nursing friends, her Chemo Savvy Teammates and so many more. Anyone that’s life has been touched by Lori will forever have a void in their heart. She was truly one of a kind and will forever be missed. We take comfort in knowing she is now with her Heather wearing matching outfits watching over all of us.

Her family would like to thank everyone that supported us in the past year; her Oncologists; Dr. Banerji and Dr. Butler at HSC Cancercare; her family doctor Dr. Knezic; Selkirk Hospital Pallative Care for treating her with dignity and grace; her special nursing friends that moved mountains for her; our family and friends that carried us and anyone that reached out - Thank you.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In Lieu of Flowers please consider donating to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation or the Chemo Savvy Dragon Boat Team in her honour. In another time, in a happier place, we’ll meet again. Rest now Mom."3
