Obituary* | March 2017 | Mrs. Mary Alice R. Neilson, a long-time resident of Fort Davis for many years, died at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, TX March 9, 2017. She was born December 29, 1923 in Antigo, WI to Richard and Roseanna (Kramer) Hugunin, attended St. John Parochial School, graduated from Antigo High School in 1942, and married John M. Neilson February 22, 1947 in Delafield, WI. For many years she and her husband resided in Waukesha, WI. After retiring they moved to Fort Davis in 1972, built a home on Cemetery Road, and took an active part in the community. Mary Alice was an accomplished photographer, utilizing the dramatic landscape of the area to capture pictures of clouds, flowers, birds, and the variety of sky conditions, most often from the view of their Fort Davis home. She was a past president of the Kate Hoffman Art Association and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 infant sons, sister Patricia B. Neuwirth of Elcho, WI, and her brother Gerald Hugunin of Chicago, IL. Survivors include sister-in-law Ruby J. Neilson of Amarillo, TX, nieces and nephews Dr. Christine Neuwirth of Pittsburgh, PA, Carol Neuwirth of Edina, MN, Laurie Dellis of Amarillo, TX, James Hugunin of Oak Park, IL, Dr. Kurt Neuwirth of Cincinnati, OH, Eric Neuwirth of Tuba City, AZ, Col. Joseph Neuwirth of Ft. Hayes, VA, James R. Neilson of Orono, MN, Neil Hubbard of Oconomowoc, WI, and numerous grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. Under the direction of Alpine Memorial Funeral Home a Rosary and Mass were held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Davis, TX, with internment in Hillcrest Cemetery March 14 and 15. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church General Fund, P.O. Box 787, Fort Davis, TX 79734.2 |

His last residence was 1404 N. 12th Street in the 20th Ward.4,5 |
(Witness) Death | 8 June 1897 | John Cassin; United States; There are discrepencies as to the day of death. The funeral records state it was on June 8th (aged 41 years) in Pennsylvania. Funeral from 1404 12th St., Philadelphia (this is the address in Emily Cassin's Will - his mother). However, there is a record from New Castle, Delaware that states John Cassin, aged 41, widowed, living at 807 Washington, employee of mint, died of Congestion of the brain on the 7th of June.6,7 |
Will* | 30 March 1907 | Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, United States; I, Emily Cassin, of the City of Philadelphia, Widow, being of sound disposing mind, memory and understanding, do hereby make, publish and declare this instrument of writing as and for my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking and making null and void any and all other Wills at any time heretofore made by me. Imprimis - I order and direct my Executrix hereinafter named to pay all my just debts and funeral expenses as soon after my decease as my be conveniently done. Item - I order and direct my said Executrix to cause to be placed over my grave a cradle similar to the one now on the grave of my deceased husband in Laure Hill Cemetery, and I also direct my said Executrix to have a brick crypt built in which my body shall repose. Item - I order and direct my said Executrix to arrange with the Laurel Hill Cemetery Company for the payment ot them of a sum which will be ample to be held by the said Cemetery Company in trust for the proper care and maintenance of that one-half portion of the Cemetery Lot No. 97, Section J., in Laurel Hill Cemetery, which had been considered as that part of the said lot as belonging to Isaac S. Cassin, my deceased husband, and I hereby approve of any arrangement that my said Executrix may make with the said Cemetery company for the purposes just mentioned. Item - I give and bequeath to my daughter, Emily Cassin, the sum of Fifteen hundred dollars in recognition of her kind and loving care of me since the decease of my husband, this sum to be paid to her immediately after my decease; and I also give and bequeath unto my said daughter, Emily Cassin, all my jewelry, clothing and personal effects, and also all my furniture and household goods of every description contained in premises No. 1404 North Twelfth Street, Philadelphia, and I also direct that my said daughter, Emily Cassin, shall have the right to occupy my house No. 1404 North Twelfth Street for and during the term of one year after my decease free of rent or any charge for taxes, water, rent or repairs, and at the expiration of one year after my decease the said property shall become a part of my residuary estate. Item - All the rest, residue and remainder of my estate, real, personal, and mixed, of whatsoever nature and character, and wheresoever situated, I give, devise and bequeath as follows: To my daughter, Mrs. Eliza H. Snyder, one-fourth thereof absolutely; to my daughter, Emily Cassin, one-fourth absolutely; to my son, Isaac S. Cassin, Jr., one-fourth absolutely; and to my granddaughter, Mary Cassin Johnson, wife of Philip G. Johnson, one-fourth thereof absolutely. Item - I hereby nominate, constitute and appoint my said daughter, Emily Cassin, sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament, and I do herby authorize and empower by said Executrix to sell and dispose of any and all of my real estate, either at public or private sale, for such prices as may be obtained for the same, and to make, execute and deliver to the purchaser or purchasers thereof good and sufficient deed or deeds of conveyance or other assurance in the law as may be necessary to vest in such purchaser or purchasers an absolute and fee simple title to the same, without any liability on the part of such purchaser or purchasers to see to the proper application of the purchase money. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this thirtieth of March, 1907. Signed by Emily Cassin I hereby make this codicil to my foregoing Will. In case any of my children or grandchild named in my foregoing Will should make any contest over the provisions of the same I hereby direct that the share of my estated given to such child or grandchild shall be give to him, her or them who are not parties to such contest. Witness my hand and seal this sixteenth day of May 1908. The Will was admitted to Probate on October, 3, 1911.8 |

Buried in Laurel Hill on 9/29/1911 by Undertaker R. R. Bringburst. The Letters of Administration for Probate state that she died on the 25th of November, 1911 at 4am.8,9 |
