From the papers of Majella Murphy, who received information from Paul Henderson of Alpine, Texas, in 1998 (who was related to this family) stated that Daniel actually died from a fall off the roof of the Methodist Church while he was repairing tiles. His mother, known as Granny Maher, and who was a devout Catholic, immediately took his youngest children, Irma and frank to the Catholic Church to have them baptized, so the "Methodists wouldn't have any claim on them".5
