| Birth* | 23 March 1871 | Army Garrison, Quebec City, Quebec County, Quebec, Canada; Thomas's marriage certificate identifies his birthplace as Quebec. Family lore and the 1871 Census align, suggesting he was born in the St. Louis Ward of Quebec City, within the army barracks, during Mathew's service with the Royal Canadian Rifles. His baptismal record states an April 2, 1871 birthdate. Contradictorily, his obituary claims he was born in London, Ontario, which seems unlikely given the Quebec City baptismal record. Additionally, his Death Registration and burial record lists his birth date as March 23, 1869, in contrast to census data pointing to March 1871, further complicated by the baptismal record reaffirming an April 2, 1871 birth.4,5,6,7,2,8,3 |

| Residence | 1883 | Mathew Minogue; Quebec Street, London, Middlesex County, Ontario, Canada; Listed in the 1884 Directory (information likely from 1883) as "Minogue, Mathew lab GT car works, h 121 Quebec". I believe that in 1885 or so the house numbers on Quebec Street changed and 121 later became 529 Quebec. Also listed is a Minogue, Matthew Jr. at the same employer and residence. It think this is an error as Mathew Jr. died as an infant in 1876.13 |

| Name Change | circa 1894 | Thomas Henry Minogue; Family tradition says that he changed the last name from Minogue to Monogue because he didn't like people calling him "Mini". Must have been after 1894, since the Minogue spelling was listed at marriage.23 |

| Anecdote* | Mary Ann Gibbons; This information was gathered from Patrick Monogue, grandson of Thomas Henry Monogue. Thomas Henry was a conservative (in the political sense) ans was well-known by the people in government. Pat thinks that is how his father Thomas John got a job at the post office at the young age of 19. Thomas Henry was a tailor and he worked at a shop on James Street. Later, he owned a small tailor shop on Concession Street. This shop he later turned into "Tom Monogue's Ice Cream Parlour". Marlene Pryor has a picture of the sign for the shop. Although, Patrick does not remember his grandfather having an ice cream store, he does remember him bringing big tins of ice cream to the picnics they would have at Concession Park. Agnes, Thomas's daughter was also a seamstress but she worked for a big tailor outfit on King Street. When Thomas Henry got older he sold the shop and went to work for the Liquor Control Board store at Barton and Ottawa. His health deteriorated and he became confused probably from atherosclerosis and he came to live with Pat's family on Huron Street for a while because grandma couldn't take care of him by herself. He eventually went back to live with grandma and his daughters on Kensington Street. He stayed in the upstairs bedroom and he used to say he heard a baby crying (which would have been Marlene, Dorothy's daughter) but they just told him he was imagining things because they didn't want to explain that Dorothy had a baby. He died in the upstairs bedroom and on the same day "Aunt Lizzie" (Gibbons Armstrong) also died. So Grandma lost both her husband and sister on the same day. | |

| (Witness) Death | August 1831 | Charles McElrone; St-Gabriel-de-Valcartier, Quebec County, Quebec, Canada; This letter is found in the Neilson Collection: Transcription: "For the Agricultural Society of Quebec: We the undersigned certify that the late Charles McElrone, Lot No. 33, 4th Range, Parish of St. Gabriel, did cut down during last winter without assistance on said lot, four acres that he also without other aid, did plant and sow the entire clearance with potatoes, oats, turnips, that he also built on said lot a substantial log house 20 x 18 feet. That early in August last the said Charles McElrone proceeded to Quebec, and did take out his deeds for said lot, on which occasion this honest man inhaled the prevailing Asiatic Cholera and died on the third day after his return from the City. This melancholy occurrence proves an irreparable loss to his widow, and seven small helpless children. They still reside on said lot. Charles McElrone was a hard working, indefatigable, sober, civil man much lamented by all his neighbours. Since his death application has been made to the Ladies Beneficient Society of Quebec in aid of his most unfortunate family, but the said Society not extending its charitable funds to persons dying without the City, no success from that quarter could be procured. Transcribed by Gerald Neville, 2012 Note by Patricia Balkcom: Albert died in 1949 according to the date on his gravestone (St. Gabriel Catholic Cemetery, Valcartier). He would have been about 88 years of age. The two sons mentioned in the will are those he had with his 2nd wife, Annie Heal, who predeceased him in 1823. It is possible that there is a later will.
