(Witness) Baptism12 August 1827Patrick Cullen; St-Augustin-de-Desmaures Catholic Church, St-Augustin-de-Desmaures, Portneuf County, Quebec, Canada; Godparents were James O'Brien and Margaret ?.2
(Witness) Marriage20 November 1843Bridget Anderson, Moses Cullen; Notre-Dame Basilica, Quebec City, Quebec County, Quebec, Canada; Church record states "...Moses Cullen, labourer, son of age of Lawrence Cullen and Ellen Murphy on one part and Bridget Anderson, minor daughter of Nicolas Anderson and Bridget Pepin of Lachance on the other part...in the presence of James O'Brien uncle of the groom and Patrick Forestil (?), friend of the groom..."1
Note*20 November 1843It states in Moses Cullen's marriage record that James O'Brien is his uncle - this would seem to indicate that James O'Brien is related to the Cullens (could be married to a Cullen), or to the Murphys (could be married to the Murphys). There has been some speculation that Ellen Murphy, mother of Moses Cullen, had been married before she married Lawrence Cullen, and that her maiden name was Ellen O'Brien (meaning that first, she married a Murphy, and second, she married Lawrence Cullen). This theory supports the statement that James O'Brien is uncle to Moses (if Ellen was an O'Brien, then James would be her brother).1
