Burial* | 8 May 1870 | St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Sillery, Quebec County, Quebec, Canada; "On the eighth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and seventy, we the undersigned priest have interred in the cemetery of this church the body of Peter Breslaw, labourer, husband of Margaret Ravell, deceased on the sixth instant aged thirty six years....Signed by Simon Grogan and John Paul." (Both of these men were directors of the Quebec Shipbuilders Benevolent Society which Peter would have belonged to as he was a laborer in the shipyard.) Note: The original St. Patrick's Cemetery was closed in 1879 when the current one was opened. Peter Breslin's remains were probably exhumed and buried in a mass grave in the new cemetery with the remains of all those whose families did not choose to lease a lot.3 |

For the past forty-six years, he had made his home in Springfield. He had retired in 1979 from Bryant Grinder Corp after many years of service. He was a member of St Mary's Church, the Springfield Senior Center and the Bryant Quarter Century Club. His wife, Margaret (Couture) Brodeur died in 1984. He was also predeceased by two sisters Medora Brodeur and Bernice Gonthier, and a brother Clyde E Brodeur. He is survived by two daughter Marjorie Masella of Manchester and Phyllis Britton of Greenfield, MA; a son Michael R Brodeur of Edgartown, MA; two sisters Evelyn Brodeur of claremont and Eileen McLaughlin of Manchester; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was a native and life long resident of Claremont, NH, born on December 5, 1908 the daughter of Ernest J. and Maud (Cassin) Brodeur. Miss Brodeur worked as a stitcher in several shoe shops in the area and retired in 1973. She was a communicant of St Joseph Church. The surviving family includes several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Rudolph Brodeur in 1937, Clyde Brodeur in 1988 and Armand Brodeur in 1988; and three sisters, Bernice Gonthier in 1985, Medora Brodeur in 1988 and Eileen McLaughlin in 1996. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning, November 29th at Ten O'clock in the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont, with Rev. Father Stanley J. Piwowar, Pastor of St Joseph Church, officiating. Interment will follow in St Mary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Tuesday morning from 9 to 10 AM, prior to the services."3 |
