In the name of God, Amen, I, John Rea, of the Settlement of Valcartier, and County of Quebec, Farmer & Blacksmith, being very weakly of body but of perfect mind and memory, calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament, that is to say, principally, and first of all, I give & recommend my soul unto the hand of Almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in a decent Christian burial, nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the Almighty power of God.

And touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless one, I give, demise & dispose of to Robert Ross Junr. of the First Concession Valcartier and Mary Rea, his wife and my daughter, all and every my real & personal property of whatever kind it may be in consideration that the said Robert Ross & Mary Rea shall support in a decent, comfortable, respectable and Christian like manner Agnes Ainslie, my lawful wife, and if she so wish to furnish her with a comfortable cottage nigh to the residence of said Robert Ross and Mary Rea, and I further ordain that all articles of household furniture, ornaments, etc. shall be freely enjoyed by the said Agnes Ainslie during her natural life with the exception of an eight day clock which I bequeath to the said Robert Ross and Mary Rea.

And I hereby ratify and confirm this and no other to be my last will and testament as witness my hand in presence of these witnesses this twenty fifth day of July one thousand eight hundred and forty six..

Although the marriage record for Elijah Haney and Mary Dutch has not been found, the marriage record for Heber Haney states that those are his parents, so that confirms the marriage.
