Sylvia F. Bacon, 97, of Cumberland, formerly of Woonsocket died peacefully Saturday May 5, 2018 at home. She was the loving wife of the late Antonio J. Bacon. They were married in 1940 and shared over 46 years together until his passing in 1986. Born and raised in Woonsocket she was daughter of the late Alfred and Florence (Bernier) Trudeau. She was a graduate of Woonsocket High School and a lifelong resident of the city. In her earlier years Sylvia worked at McCarthy’s Department Store, U.S. Rubber, Inc. and the Manville Jenks mill. Sylvia was a member of St. Agatha’s Parish. She was a member of the St. Joseph’s and St. Agatha’s senior citizens groups. She was especially talented at cooking and baking. Every year Sylvia tended to her beautiful flower garden. Having her family together was what Sylvia was all about. Any and all family activities and gatherings brought her the greatest satisfaction. In her later years, at the young age of 67, Sylvia got her driver’s license and went all over the place, usually on various shopping trips. Sylvia was a very friendly and outgoing lady, devoted to everyone in her family. Her love for ice cream came second only to her love for her family. She is survived by three daughters Elaine Jarret of Cumberland, Linda Dupre and her husband Joseph of North Smithfield and Cathy Jarret and her husband David of Woonsocket. She was the mother of the late Donald and Roger Bacon, Mary Sue Hardy and Sandra Forcier. She was the mother-in-law of Patricia Moore and Edward Hardy and the late Leo DeGrange, Jr. and Guy Jarret. She was the sister of the late Gerald and Normand Trudeau and Beatrice Picard. She was the grandmother of the late Richard Bacon and is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her funeral will be Wednesday at 9:00 am from the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Agatha’s Church, Joffre Ave. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Kindred Hospice 2374 Post Rd. # 206 Warwick RI. 02886. www.menardfuneralhome.com2 |
