(Witness) Census14 July 1860Michael J. Cassin; Mequon, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, United States; "Michael Cassin", white, male, age 26, head of household #1075, farmer, real estate worth $100, personal property $50, born Canada. Living with him is his wife and two children. They are living next to Corrigan brothers, Michael and John and their families, (who are the brothers of Michael's wife, Jane) and also the Mooneys who were also from Valcartier. It is interesting that Michael is found in the 1860 census for both Valcartier and Wisconsin. The Wisconsin census was taken in July and Michael is listed with his wife and two children but the Valcartier lists him as living with his parents, married and does not list his wife or children. However, his sisters are also listed as married and also living in this house even though their husbands are not listed. It is possible that the census taker listed them as the children of Edward even though they were not physically living there.
Listed living with Michael:
Jane Cassin, age 24, born Canada.
Margaret Cassin, age 3, born Canada.
Edward Cassin, age 1, born Canada.4

Occupation*1910Ste-Foy, Quebec County, Quebec, Canada; From an article about the Brookside Dairy - At the beginning of the 20th century, James Corrigan, nicknamed “Jim”, farmed agricultural land on the south side of Chemin Saint-Louis, in Sainte-Foy. In 1910 , he opened a dairy there and a few years later built a pasteurization plant, the first in the region. The demand is soon so great that he buys milk from other suppliers and has to rethink the distribution system in the city. In 1924, Corrigan sold his business, which became Brookside Dairy and then a subsidiary of the American company Borden from 1944 to 1978, when it closed. Jim Corrigan also operates a sandstone quarry in the southern part of his property, along the river. In 1929, the Transcontinental Airline bought a parcel of land adjoining Bois Gomin to build the first aerodrome in the Quebec region.
Anecdote from Eric Corrigan to Patricia Balkcom, told in 2022 that this Corrigan family did not socialize much with the Corrigans from Valcartier as they kept a very
"clean" farm and did not want to chance any diseases brought from Valcartier that might infect their cows.2
