Obituary*August 2010"CORRIGAN-KING, Elizabeth "Betty" (Aged 63) Surrounded by love, Betty passed away peacefully on August 27, after a brave and dignified battle with cancer. Betty was born in Valcartier, Quebec, to Georgianna (nee Birmingham) and Gerald Corrigan. After losing her parents at a young age, Betty was raised in Verdun, Quebec by a second set of formidable parents, Mary and William Fitzpatrick. Betty led a fulfilling teaching career spanning 35 years, beginning in Montreal. In 1991, she married her soul mate, Allan King, and they moved to Ottawa where Betty continued her teaching career at Mother Teresa Catholic School. In addition to her husband, Betty's greatest comforts were good friends, good humour, gardening and golf. Betty leaves behind a legacy of great memories and loved ones, including her partner and loving husband Allan; late brother Tommy, sister Joan; sister-in-law Mavis; step-daughter Jennifer (Mike) and late step-son Jason; nieces and nephews Danny, Darlene (Andrew), Gerry (Lindsay) and Alana. Betty also leaves many cherished friends, cousins, and was Nana to Gwynn, Harrison, Gabriella, Owen, and Nana B to Ella and Charlotte. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Dr. Young of Ottawa General Hospital, and the Oncology staff. In lieu of flowers, please send donations and prayers to the Canadian Breast Cancer Society. A service will be held at The Good Shepherd Parish in Gloucester / Blackburn Hamlet (3092 Innis Road), on Thursday September 2, at 10:30 a.m. Reception to follow in parish hall. "3

Living with him is his wife and two children. They are living next to Corrigan brothers, Michael and John and their families, (who are the brothers of Michael's wife, Jane) and also the Mooneys who were also from Valcartier. It is interesting that Michael is found in the 1860 census for both Valcartier and Wisconsin. The Wisconsin census was taken in July and Michael is listed with his wife and two children but the Valcartier lists him as living with his parents, married and does not list his wife or children. However, his sisters are also listed as married and also living in this house even though their husbands are not listed. It is possible that the census taker listed them as the children of Edward even though they were not physically living there.
Listed living with Michael:
Jane Cassin, age 24, born Canada.
Margaret Cassin, age 3, born Canada.
Edward Cassin, age 1, born Canada.4
