On this day the twentieth of March one thousand eight hundred and sixty one, before us the undersigned Notaries Public for Lower Canada residing in the City of Quebec, personally came and appeared William Crawford of Valcartier, farmer, who being in good health and of perfect mind, memory and understanding requested us the said notaries to receive in due form of law his last will and testament which he instantly made, published, dictated and named unto us the said notaries in manner and form following, that is to say:

I recommend my soul to Almighty God, hoping for a free pardon and remission of all my sins through the merits of my Blessed Saviour Jesus Christ.

Having this day by deed of gift passed before Phi. Huot and colleague, notaries public at Quebec given by way of donation unto my son in law Nicholas Abraham and Mary Ann Crawford, his wife, a certain lot of land and premises thereon described as lot No. Six of the Second Concession, Northwest River aux Pins, together with all and every the moveable effects and furniture which I now possess or may die possessed of and being desirous that the said donation do take effect and be fully and entirely executed according to it tenor and form, I hereby ratify and confirm the said donation and order that the same be fully & entirely executed notwithstanding any defect of plan, want of insinuation or registration that might so happen or be required by the law of this province. And further to secure the execution of the said donation, I hereby bequeath unto the said Nicholas Abraham and Mary Ann Crawford, the said lot of land in the said donation described and all such moveable property as nay belong to me at the time of my decease, instituting the said Nicholas Abraham and Mary Ann Crawford my residuary legatees. And I appoint them executors of this my last will and testament, revoking all former wills and codicils at any time heretofore by me made and declaring the present to be my only will and testament.

I declare that I give nothing to my other children, they having been already provided by me to the amount of what I consider them to be entitled in my estate.

It was thus made, published, dictated, and named fait dicté et nommé unto us the said notaries by the said William Crawford, testator, and afterwards, the present his will and testament having been twice duly read over to the said William Crawford, testator, lu et relu au long, by one of us the said notaries in the presence of the other subscribing notaries, he the said William Crawford, testator, declared that he had perfectly understood the same and persisted in the contents thereof.

Done and passed at Quebec in the office of Louis Panet one of the said Notaries on the day and year above written, under number fourteen thousand three hundred and ninety three. The said testator having signed these presents, first twice duly read over as aforesaid.

Ten words erased are null.

On this twenty ninth day of October one thousand nine hundred and fifteen, before me Cyrille Renaud, Notary, residing at Loretteville, undersigned, personally came and appeared William Crawford, Senior, Farmer, residing in the parish of St. Gabriel of Valcartier, who being of sound and disposing mind, memory, and understanding hath requested me the said Notary and witnesses to write down and receive in due form of law his last will and testament which he has declared in manner and form following, that is to say:

1º I desire that all my just debts, funeral and testamentary expenses be paid as soon as possible after my death.

2º I give and bequeath to my son Thomas Crawford all my moveable and immoveable properties wherever the same may be found and to whatsoever the same shall amount hereby constituting my said son Thomas Crawford my universal legatee at the charge to pay the sum of one hundred dollars to each of his sisters, Elizabeth and Alice Crawford, after my death.

3º I nominate, constitute and appoint my said son as Executor of this my will and testament.

4º I revoke all will and testament I may have heretofore made and I declare the present to be my only true last will and testament.

Done and passed at Loretteville under notarial number six thousand seven hundred and eight. After the reading of the present will by the Notary to the Testator in presence of Jules Couture, Clerk of the Bank, and Jacques Verret, Joiner, both of Loretteville, witnesses, the Testator, the Notary and witnesses have signed in the presence of each other.
