BEFORE ME, the undersigned, one of the Justices of  the District of Quebec, this twentieth day of April  one thousand eight hundred and fifty two, came and appeared David Deschamps, of Stoneham, farmer, who being duly sworn upon the Holy Evangelists of Almighty God, doth declare, depose, and say, as follows: - wit,
 
Yesterday morning at Stoneham, in this District the said William Boyle of the same place, farmer, threatened to kill the deponent with an ax, without cause or provocation and against the peace.
 
The deponent was afraid for his life and requested the said Boyle post bail and be on his best future behavior indicating that the current complaint is not meant to be a form of harassment but simply for the peace and personal safety of the deponent.
 
Further deponent saith not and cannot sign.
