Before Léonidas-Praxède Bernard the undersigned Notary Public residing at the Parish of Cap Santé in the District and Province of Quebec, personally came, appeared and was present Mr. Arthur McClintock of the Parish of St. Basile, Farmer, who being sick of body but of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding as appeared unto the undersigned Notary and witnesses, and desirous of settling his worldly affairs hath requested the said Notary to receive his present last will and testament in the manner and form following, to wit:
I recommend my soul to Almighty God my Creator the father of all mercies humbly imploring at his hands forgiveness of my sins through the gracious intercession of my Divine Redeemer Jesus Christ. As to my funeral I leave the discretion of the same to my beloved wife Ellen Cleary.
I will and direct that all my just and lawful debts and funeral expenses be paid and satisfied by my executor hereinafter named.
I will and bequeath unto my son Michael McClintock all and singular the property real and personal moveable and immoveable whatsoever I may be seized and possessed and wheresoever situate and being without any exception or reserve whatsoever. To have and to hold all and singular the said property real and personal, moveable and immoveable above described and bequeath as aforesaid unto my said son Michael McClintock his heirs and assigns from and after my decease from thenceforth forever, at the charge by the said Michael McClintock to board à son pot et ordinaire, lodge, maintain as well in sickness as in health his mother, my beloved wife, Ellen Cleary during the remainder of her natural life.
And for the execution of this my present last will and testament I do hereby nominate and appoint my said son the said Michael McClintock unto whose hands I do in conformity to the law and custom in that behalf hereby deseize and divest my self for the ends hereof and hereby instituting him my sole universal legatee. Hereby revoking all other wills or testaments and codicils which I may have made prior or before the present to which alone I do address as continuing my true intentions and last will.
Thus done, dictated, published and declared by said Testator as for his last will and testament to and in the presence of us the said Notary, Mr. James Moody and William Shanahan both residing at the Parish of St. Basile, farmers, witnesses, hereto requested, the twenty sixth day of November in the year one thousand eight hundred and seventy four at the hour of six in the afternoon under the number four hundred and sixty six, and the said foregoing will having been read to the said Testator by the said Notary in the presence of the said witnesses he hath persisted therein as containing his true intentions and last will. In faith and testimony whereof the said Testator hath to these presents first duly read and subscribed his name and signature in the presence of us the said Notary and witnesses also hereunto subscribing.

Notes by Patricia Balkcom: Arthur had seven known children, however, only Michael is mentioned in the will. At this time I have not found Arthur’s date of death.
