Thomas Gough died in 1850 and in his Will, he left all of his possessions, including the farm to his wife, Alice; and when she died, the farm was to go to his youngest son, Charles. Alice died in 1857 and Charles must have decided that he was not a farmer as he moved to Quebec City with his wife and family in the early 1860s. He and his wife, Catherine Waters, had 6 children but three of them died in infancy and Catherine also died early at the age of 27 in 1865.
