Catherine, the County of Portneuf, who being of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding hath requested me the said Notary to write down and receive in due form of law his last will and testament which he has declared in the manner and form following: I. - I most willingly resign my soul into the hands of Almighty God, my Creator, i the humble hope that he will receive it to his favor through the merits and intercession of Jesus Christ my Saviour. II. - I desire that all my just debts, funeral and testamentary expenses be paid by my Testamentary Executor and that the sum of two hundred dollars be paid to the priest of the Parish of St. Gabriel of Valcartier for masses for my soul. III. - I leave and bequeath to my brother James King the sum of one hundred dollars and to my sister Annie, wife of Mark McLaughlin, the sum of one hundred dollars, but if the said James King or Annie King do not survive me this said sum will return unto my following heirs. IV. - I leave and bequeath to the boys and daughters of my brother Patrick King the balance and remainder of all my moveable and immoveable properties, share and share alike, James Joseph King and Veronica Clara shall have fifty dollars more than the rest of their brothers and sisters. V. - I nominate and appoint my brother Patrick King as Executor of this my will and testament with power to continue the execution of my last will during ten years after my death and also with power and full authority to sell all my moveable and immoveable properties by private sale or by public auction and to pay my said heirs at their age of majority. VI. - I revoke all will and codicils I may have heretofore made and I declare the present to be my only true last will and testament. Done and passed at Loretteville under notarial number nine thousand five hundred and nine. Marriage* | 26 November 1889 | Margaret McLaughlin; St-Gabriel-de-Valcartier Catholic Church, St-Gabriel-de-Valcartier, Quebec County, Quebec, Canada; "On the 26th day of November 1889, whereas the publication of three banns of marriage having been made at the prone of the parochial masses of this parish and St. Catherine, between Thomas King, son of age of Patrick King, and Judith Conway of this parish on the one part; and Margaret McLaughlin, daughter of age of Michael McLaughlin and Judith Landers of the parish of St. Catherine on the other part; having discovered no other impediment to this marriage, we the undersigned, parish priest of Valcartier, having obtained permission from the parish priest of St. Catherine, have received their mutual consent to marriage and have given them the nuptial benediction in the presence of Mark McLaughlin, the bride's brother, and Bridget King, the groom's sister, and others who with the contracting parties signed. Note: Although this record states that Margaret was the daughter of Judith Landers, I believe it should say Frances Griffin as this is the person who was married to Michael McLaughlin and had children named Margaret and Mark that are in this document.2 |
