I, Maria Pladwell, now in a state of great bodily weakness and believing my dissolution to be at hand, but by God's goodness to me in possession of all my reasoning facilities with a comforting hope of a blessed resurrection to eternal life, desire to leave on record some declaration of my wish and pleasure respecting the disposal of my temporal effects after my death, and I therefore make and declare the following to be my last will and only will and testament, viz., I leave and bequeath to my husband James Pladwell all my right, title, and interest of whatsoever kind, and whatever it be, in the land estate, moveable property and other effects, as this same now is, without reserve or limitation, which by God's kind Providence we now jointly possess as man and wife - with my fervent prayer that after this toilsome life is ended, we may both through the merits of our loving Redeemer enjoy life everlasting. Given, declared and attested by my hand mark in the presence of the subscribing witnesses, this same being first read in my hearing, this second day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy two.
